Spent ages trying to find a solution to take the dog for a walk but I have a motorbike not a car. Really pleased with this rucksack. Our dog is happy to jump straight into it as she knows it's time to go for a walk! I use it on a motorbike but only for short distances (local park etc) I am very conscious that she'd get cold if I went too far. I also avoid using it during peak traffic. Our dog is about 6.5k and is a miniature breed so she fits into it fine with plenty of room. I do find she can get a bit tangled up if I use the internal strap to clip to her harness but we've shortened it and it's better for her. She can see through the mesh sides and I have got a couple of funny looks if she barks at a passing dog.
The design is pretty good - the solid plastic bottom means and spray from the back wheel doesn't soak the bag and I can sit it on the floor and wipe it down easily if it (or she) get muddy. The straps stow away neatly in a pocket so it can be used as a normal dog carrier. Plenty of side pockets for poo bags and leads and the laptop pocket fits a folded dog towel well. Of course, any dog in this sort of bag must be on a harness and not just a dog collar. If I were to suggest an improvement it would be to the way the zipper tabs are secured when the dog is in the bag. Overall very happy with it.
I bought this after researching online different options. It is great! My ferret took to it immediately. It offers him a good amount of space, he can comfortably curl up and sleep while I do the hard work of cycling us to some woods or similar. The main compartment is large enough to store a massive bicycle lock, a bottle of water, rain jacket (just in case), extra fleece and something to eat for both of us.
Even when full (and heavy - the lock weighs a few kilos) it is comfortable to carry - albeit I have only used it when cycling to the destination (once arrived the lock stays with bike obviosuly) and not carried it this heavy for hours walking. Out and about in the woods or similar it is comfortable to carry.
The plastic bottom is great when taking it off, because the bottom doesn't soak up dew from the grass etc.
The only thing that would make it even better would be a more substantial hip belt with a small pocket for keys or similar - like, e.g., Osprey and many other manufacturers' backpacks have them.
So, this is brilliant for going out with a ferret!
So handy for going on walks with our elderly dog. We set off using it as a general backpack, carrying the dog's water and bowl etc, until he's had enough of walking which is when we put it on ground, unzip it and in he walks :) He's perfectly happy in there - it has mesh side vents so he doesn't get too hot and the bits and bobs we were carrying just tuck into other pockets.
Just one thing that we found we needed to adapt to (so not the fault of the bag) is... his head bobs up and down a bit to the rhythm of your steps so we try not to frog march!
FYI: Manufacturer's recommended max dog weight is 11.3kg.
The most comfortable carrier for me and her! My old chihuahua can't walk as far as she used to (still manages a good 3 miles), but we never want her to miss out! We've had it a while now and we take it with us everywhere! Wherever we stop, she looks to me for her comfy travelling bed. This month we put it to the test on holiday in the Peaks! From the snooze she had on the train, the heights we managed with ease, to the sight seeing she relaxed into. It's a game changer and I high recommend!
Cannot believe the quality and feels realy well built.
My cavapoo is 3kg and you wouldn't know she was in there, and no worries of her falling out.
She is very comfortable in it and secure in it.
A lot better than the cheap alternatives you get what you pay for at the end of the day.
